Parks & Recreation - More Info
Welcome to the Department of Parks & Recreation. It is our mission "to
provide to the residents of Chesterfield Township and guests affordable, stimulating,
and comprehensive recreational, educational, and cultural activities, services
and facilities. The department provides these quality of life amenities in fitness,
athletics, cultural arts, conservation, preservation and general open space use
in a safe, enjoyable and aesthetically enriching environment and for all ages."
A dedicated staff supported by a legion of volunteers are essential in the delivery
of these programs and services. The Parks and Recreation Department is creating
a sense of community pride and esteem, by providing positive program alternatives
and giving Chesterfield Township great recreational opportunities. The Parks
and Recreation Commission is made up of nine residents who meet monthly to provide
feedback to the staff on programs, serve as liaison between the department and
the community and make advisory recommendations to the Township Board. The current
commission consists of Donald Purdie Jr. (Chair), Alan Christ (Vice-Chair), Vince
Finazzo (Secretary), and the following commissioners Mike Henry, Anthony McPherson,
Ron Rospierski, Jan Uglis, Patrick Williams, Mary Ellen Barrett-Wilmot and Cheryl
E. Printz (Board Liaison).. They meet the last Wednesday of each month except
during the holiday season. (Click

currently has five full-time employees. Their position and duties include, but
are not limited to, the following: Parks & Recreation Director
- Eric M. Wurmlinger Administers and oversees the daily operations of
the department. Facilitates communication between the community, Recreation Commission,
Township Board and special interest groups. Makes recommendations to the Department
of Public Works (DPW) on the development and improvement of parks and recreational
facilities within Chesterfield Township. The director also determines cost effectiveness,
needs assessment and operational analysis of recreation offerings and implements
programs, procedures, and policies as necessary. Assistant Parks and
Recreation Director - Richard Piekarski Responsible for management and
development of athletic leagues, sports, instructional classes and camps. and
athletic programming for Chesterfield Township. The Assistant Director schedules
use of Township play fields. Recreation Coordinator - Jodie Tedlock Responsible
for management and development of general recreation programs, special events
and summer camp. Administrative Assistant - Amanda Willard Administers
the daily business operations of the Parks and Recreation Department and program
management. Coordinates bus trips and helps with special events and administrative
projects. Clerk II - Michelle Kemp Assists Administrative Assistant
with program registrations and management. Schedules pavilion and tent rentals
at Brandenburg Park. Coordinates Brandenburg Booth employees with DPW Crew Leader.
