Clerk's Department - More About
The Clerk’s Department is literally the information hub for the entire Charter Township of Chesterfield community, including the Township administration staff and the public. Accordingly, the Clerk’s Department
strives to take the mystery out of Government by providing timely, customer-oriented and objective service to all. The Clerk’s Department is obligated to conduct local, state and federal elections under the guidelines of all laws and rules of fairness. Further responsibilities include, but are no limited to, prepare all meeting agendas, meeting minutes, vending permits, registration of businesses, etc.
The Clerk’s Department currently has 6 full time employees. Their positions and duties are as follows:
One Township Clerk – The clerk is an elected official who oversees the
Clerk’s Department staff and their functions.
One Deputy Clerk – The deputy clerk is appointed by the clerk and assists
in the management of staff within the Clerk’s Department
Four Clerical Assistants – Support staff for the Clerk’s Department
prepares resolutions, manage business registration, maintain all voter
registration, and provide general support for answering general telephone
and walk-in inquiries.
