Chesterfield Township Beautification Committee Meeting Minutes

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Call to Order: Called to order by Sue Grimaudo at 7:03PM

Roll Call:

Members Present: Sue Grimaudo, Denise Calvert, Marlene Krul,

Marilyn Sypolt, Tom Yaschen

P & R Director: Rich Piekarski

Township Board Liaison: Linda Hartman

Also in Attendance: Michele Stearns

Motion to Approve Agenda with the addition to item C) Election of Officers:

Motion by Sue, seconded by Denise, motion passed unanimously.

Motion to Approve Minutes from October 13, 2010 as submitted:

Motion by Sue, seconded by Tom, motion passed unanimously.

The November meeting was cancelled due to lack of attendance.

Old Business:

Bridge Decoration: was on Saturday, November 13th at 9:30AM, Sue picked up the wreaths from VanThommes on Friday and Connie Hansen helped Sue put on the bows. There were a total of 20 - 14" wreaths w/bows purchased at $17 each, 1 - 20" wreath w/bow at $45 each, & 20 bows at $4 each. Sue also purchased extra large zip ties to hold wreaths to bridge.

Present for bridge decorating were Marilyn, Sue, Tom, and Noah Grimaudo (volunteer/community service).

DPW removed decorations during the first week of January.

A special thank you to Dolly Allemon from the Chesterfield Historical Society for the beautiful hand-made bows.

Adopt-a-Spot: Rich suggested we add a new spot behind the municipal building near the cell tower/picnic table. Marilyn has agreed to contact the boy scouts to encourage them to adopt a spot at the Youth Center or any other spot of their choice. She also asked if the department could mail thank you letters to all persons or groups that had adopted a spot in 2010 to determine if they will be continuing their adoption in 2011.

Election of Officers: The following people/positions were selected unanimously for the 2011 calendar year:

Sue Grimaudo, Chair with Marilyn Sypolt as her helper

Denise Calvert, Vice-Chair

Tom Yaschen, Secretary with Marlene Krul as his helper

New Business:

2011 Committee Meeting Schedule: The committee will meet on the following dates during the 2011 calendar year:

January 12

March 9

April 13

May 11

June 8

September 14

October 12

November 9

Meetings will not be held in February, July, August or December.

Committee Roster: Denise’s cell phone number was added and work number removed.

Beautification Week 2011: May 15-22. The events for each day will be determined in time for the March meeting.

Comments:

Tom: Reminded Sue, Marilyn, and Marlene that they, as well as he, will have to submit a reinstatement letter to the Township Board in May of this year because their terms will expire on July 3rd.

Linda: Informed us that the flag pole in front of the municipal building will need to be redesigned because the bushes have overgrown the area will be removed.

Tom: Will be presenting a Recycling Bank booklet to the Township Board.

Sue: Would like Adopt-A-Spot and Need You flyers to always be available on the hallway table and at the recreation department counters. In addition, she would like them to be displayed in the wall showcase as well.

Denise: Informed the group that she will be speaking to the New Baltimore library in regards to planting.

Motion was made by Sue and seconded by Marlene to adjourn the meeting at 8:10PM

The next meeting will be held on March 9, 2011 at 7PM.
